Therapy can offer relief, support and a way through challenging and distressing times. It is also an opportunity to embrace change, personal growth and to explore our potential.
There are periods in all our lives when things can feel overwhelming. At other times we can find ourselves stuck, repeating habits or behaviours which are destructive to ourselves and our relationships - and yet we seem unable to stop. Therapy can offer relief, support and a way through these challenging and distressing times. It can also be a wonderful opportunity to embrace change, personal growth and to explore our potential.
I am an integrative counsellor working in private practice in Wimpole Street, Marylebone and in a quiet, comfortable setting in Dollis Hill. I offer a confidential, empathetic and non-judgemental space in which we together explore ways to help you understand yourself better, enhance your wellbeing, and cope with difficult experiences or life events.
I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities and draw on these to tailor sessions to meet you according to your needs. I work with many presenting issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, PTSD, depression, addiction, low self-esteem, trauma, and relationship issues.
If you are interested in pursuing sessions with me, please contact me with a description of your reasons for seeking therapy (this can be brief) and I will reply usually very quickly, and always within 24 hours, to arrange an initial appointment. All communications are treated with the strictest confidence.
WELCOME
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
This may be your first time seeking therapy or perhaps you have had some therapy experiences before. Either way, choosing your next therapist is an important decision.
I have undertaken six years of training in integrative counselling and psychotherapy at the Minster Centre in London and have a postgraduate diploma in integrative counselling. I am currently completing an MA in integrative psychotherapy and counselling.
I am BACP registered and fully insured. I have a PhD in Epidemiology, an MA from Cambridge University (1st class) and an MSc from London University. I also have more than 25 years experience working in the health and wellbeing sector.
It is important you find a therapist who is the right fit, and equally important that you find someone who is properly qualified and capable of competently working with you. ‘Counsellor’ and ‘psychotherapist’ are not yet regulated terms, and the titles alone do not tell you enough about a therapist’s capabilities. However, you can refer to training history and accrediting bodies if you seek reassurance in this regard.
I have offered a summary of my own training and experience above and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Therapy can offer profound and lasting change. It can help at times of distress or grief, when you are feeling lost or are going through a big transition such as a new career, bereavement or end of a relationship.
Human beings are complex, and how we are in the present is the result of nature and nurture - our life experiences, our background, our family and also our genes. Our reactions, emotional, personality traits and behaviours may feel fixed. In fact, our neural pathways are open to change - even if we feel we don’t know where to begin or doubt we have any power to create any change at all.
Perhaps you are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, relationship difficulties, an eating disorder, or are simply feeling sad and long to feel better. A loss or bereavement, or a history of abuse can lead to an emotional or behavioural crisis which you may need help coping with, or maybe you have long struggled with depression, or simply feel stuck. I have experience with, and offer support and help with all these issues, as well as many others. This list is not exhaustive. If your issue is not included here, please contact me to talk further as I may well be able to help. If I cannot, I will be able to direct you to someone who can.
Therapy is a process which requires patience and courage.
In return it can offer great rewards.
